A little on the anatomy of a honeymoon

This is good topic to start by in a day isn’t it… honeymoon. Often people equate other people who are lackadaisical to people on a honeymoon just because there is something about a honeymoon. Something mesmerizing and really relaxing.

Last night we were just debating where really should people on a honeymoon go? What is the purpose of a honeymoon and how much should one spend on a honeymoon. We went over to Victoria Falls for our honeymoon and it was good that there weren’t too many people which gave us a real lovely time to ourselves. In fact soon after the wedding, we resisted some overtures from family members to tie us down to their plans because we had already made our gate-away plans in private in advance. In Victoria Falls we spent some nights at Kingdom Hotel before moving on to a smaller lodge for the remainder of the time. Kingdom hotel is really lovely and worth considering if your plan is not to leave the country. In fact it’s only about 400m from the falls through a back way in the garden. Evening walks are also beautiful cause of the lights and also the thunder of the falls in the distance…

Firstly, a honeymoon is an opportunity for the fresh couple to get away from it all, the months or even years of preparing for their special day, just to celebrate their breakthrough. Secondly, this is an opportunity for a MARRIED couple to explore one another intimately. During this time phones are switched off and it becomes like it’s only the two of you the world-over. However legend has it that the honeymoon was used in Victorian times as an opportunity for the couple to make their first baby, perhaps before the man returned to the battlefield… well apparently tradition has carried on and certainly and effectively evolved!

Approaches sometimes differ, but we have always thought that budget wise, the honeymoon should get its fair share. It is time to relax and enjoy and as such it must be adequately financed for it to effectively serve its purpose. Usually on a honeymoon, you need to spend more time with one another and the best way to secure this arrangement is to avoid self catering lodges and such other arrangements. Let someone do it for you and you focus on one another and other activities such a game drive, boat ride, sunset cruise, bungee jumping amongst a whole host of other things to do. But again, this is never a rule, go by what both of you are comfortable with.

So today, we throw our weight on Kingdom Hotel, Victoria Falls because we really enjoyed their hospitality. It’s really cool. However, you might want to check the prices for meals because at that time it was a bit on the high side and we believe nothing much has changed since… in fact things have gone up higher. The service was also good from the hotel staff, nothing beats being treated like a king and queen on your honeymoon even if these guys don’t know it. Oh they also got a hair saloon within the hotel in case, for ladies, you want to get your wedding hairdo undone. The best way to get there is to fly, this we recommend. It’s pretty affordable and it’s only 55 minutes on the bigger plane. In fact when we went there, it was cheaper to fly than to drive.

To Your Special Day!
