What to Hire

You know last night we were just pondering over the issue of hiring stuff for a wedding. People often struggle with what to hire and what to buy for use on their wedding day. This is tricky because some things are cheaper to buy than to hire yet they are once off things for the wedding day, you know.

People generally have different approaches to this issue. Some would like to buy instead of hiring because they want that particular thing to remind them of their special day and even pass it down to their great grand sons and daughters. This is mostly the case with the gown. Even with the wedding gown, some buy because they can’t just find that special one from the hiring company or they also plan to hire it out after their wedding, you know, and things like that. But we feel it’s generally the approach to hire a gown. With many hiring companies now around with access to high quality gowns the types of Alfred Angelo made in the US & UK through the Diaspora community one is most certainly able to get a gown at a reasonable rate. Some people would like to go for the going-away outfit or dress which is worn either after your ceremony to your reception or after your reception to your honeymoon, this again can be hired but we recommend buying as this will still be used at some other occasion in future.

For the bride, buy your own jewelery if you can afford as you still will be able to utilize it in future on any other occasion. If the buying cost is beyond your rich then please go ahead and consider hiring or even borrowing from a supportive friend. Things like ring holders or ring cushions are best to hire seeing that you not going use then again unless you would opt to sell them after or hire them out.

Now we come to the bridal team. Mostly, in the Zimbabwean approach, the bridal team members are often expected to foot their own cost. In this case it would be best for the bride’s maids to buy some material and go for a design they are all comfortable with. The advantage of buying over hiring in this case is that the dresses can still be worn way into the future.
